The Do’s and Don’ts of Driving Safety

 

All drivers should practice the rules of safe driving. Here are the 10 Do’s and Don’ts of driving safety.

DO:

  1. Check your tires, break pads, oil level, and lights regularly.
  2. Pay close attention to the road; check your blind spots, and mirrors.
  3. Always wear your seatbelt.
  4. Respect the posted speed limits.
  5. Keep you children in tested, approved car seats.
  6. Be courteous to other drivers, and use your indicators even if there’s no one around.
  7. Watch out for motorcyclists, bicyclists, and make sure to give pedestrians the right-of-way.
  8. When driving in bad weather, keep a winter survival kit in your car.
  9. Respect yellow lights, and slow down.
  10. Pay extra attention, and be courteous when driving in parking lots.

 

DON’T:

  1. Never delay regular maintenance as this helps keep your car safe.
  2. Don’t drive when you know you can’t keep 100% focus.
  3. Don’t speed and be more cautious in poor conditions.
  4. Avoid being distracted behind the wheel, like eating, using your cell phone, or programming a GPS.
  5. Never drive under the influence.
  6. Don’t get to close to other road users. Always keep a safe distance.
  7. Don’t drive a car you’re not comfortable in.
  8. Don’t play your music so loud that you may be distracted, or miss sirens.
  9. Avoid road rage, that will only distract you.
  10. Don’t lose your patience.
